imlSoft File Guard is a simple yet powerful utility that helps you to restrict access to your files and folders in three powerful ways - hide data, lock data, and write-protect data. Only you (or anyone with the right password) can pass or disable those securities. Unfortunately, this version of the program is not capable of encrypting the protected data.
With a nice and pleasant user interface, for sure most people will find this program easy to use. First of all, you can choose the protection method you want to apply and its scope - files, folders or drives. Then you have to add to the list on the right panel all the elements to be protected. Now you can apply the protection with a simple click. To disable the protection, you just have to select the previously protected element(s) and click on the corresponding button.
I must mention that the protection methods provided by this program are really effective. For example, if you hide a file or folder, that element is indeed hidden, and it cannot be seen even if you configure your system to show hidden files. Furthermore, during the installation process you are asked to set a security password that you will need to provide every time you run the program or you restore it after minimizing. This ensures that nobody else can remove your established restrictions in your absence. The program provides a "Password" section that allows you to change and to give the e-mail address you would like to use to recover it in case you forget it.
As you can see, this lightweight software tool allows you to restrict or disable the access to your private files and/or folders effectively and in an easy way.
